Teachers have a very hard job. They have to look after all us kid’s needs. We always complain about homework “oh I forgot mine I will bring it tomorrow” and it goes on and on. It must be very hard for them to have about 10 different classes and then remember to help you or bring in a new homework sheet for one person. Teachers would have to have people skills, knowledge, caring, and helpfulness, anger management, compassionate and persistence.

I think kids should become more respectful of there teachers because being a teacher is a very hard and tiring job.

Throughout the 8 alive period we did jopurnal writing, decorating material squares with somthing that resembles themselves, games, learning about your background and going to the Victorian market. The funnest thing for me was going to the victorian market. This was fun because we got to buy our own food and buy things for ourselves. I enjoyed talking to some of the stall managers finding out things that i didnt know. 8 alive was really good.

On the seventh of September 1940 the blitz started. There was 57 days of non stop bombing, both day and night and a lot of damage was caused by fires. In the worst single incident 450 people where killed after a bomb destroyed an air raid shelter. The blitz ended on the 11th of May 1941, when Hitler called the raids off to move on to prepare for Germany’s invasions of Russia.

Throughout world wars, food was in very short supply. The government set up rationing so everyone got their fair share of clothes and food. People were told to grow vegetables in their backyards. People didn’t eat enough vegetables and fruit so they weren’t getting the right nutrition making most adults and kids very sick.

The blackout was one of the main parts of life in world wars. People had to cover their windows at night with black material, this was to make it difficult for German bombers to find their targets in the dark.

Evacuation of children from London began on Friday the 1st of February, the day the German troops invaded Poland. Most children were sent out to the countryside where they were put with a family who cared for them. Children and adults carried gas masks with them everywhere in case there was an gas bomb dropped near them. To make the children more enthusiastic about wear their mask they designed masks to look like cartoon characters and made them colourful for the kids under the age of 5. For children over 5 the masks where jet black.

About three weeks ago at school we had a week called 8 Alive. This is a week where all the year 8 students get to have free dress and we do activities to find out about ourselves. Throughout the 8 Alive week we did journal writing, we decorated material squares with something that means something to us (such as our family or hobby), we played getting to know you games, and learned about our background of our family ancestors and we went to the Victorian market.

The most enjoyable activity for me was going to the Victorian market. This was fun because we got to buy our own food for lunch and buy things for ourselves. I enjoyed talking to some of the stall owners and finding out things that i didn’t know about their foods. 8 Alive was really good week of activities.

Today in class we started to watch a movie called “Fly Away Home”. When I first heard the name of the movie I thought it could be about birds and the different migration routes the take. I have really liked the movie so far, I think it is very realistic and interesting. It would be really cool if you found goose eggs and could look after them and teach them. The movie is about a teenage girl who has just lost her mother, and goes to live with her father who she hasn’t seen since she was born. While living with her father she finds 12 geese eggs which she cares, loves, teaches and looks after. The only problem is the geese are suppose to be migrating in a couple of weeks. This is a problem because the geese have imprinted on the girl and do what ever she does. The girl and the dad work together to try and teach the geese to fly. The time finally comes to let the geese fly south; with all the other geese and the geese don’t fly. So the dad and daughter fly with the geese in gliders south in the migration.
